(a poem about work, by Justin Will)
The Company Man Never Dies
He is an essential, expendable cog in the machine.
He delivers presentations with ease, full of curated, off-the-cuff jokes.
He sips his coffee slowly, speaks quickly, gesticulates emphatically, and never spills.
He recycles PowerPoint punchlines to single use crowds.
He is uniquely unoriginal in his pursuit of raising the bottom line.
He is religiously agnostic to both terms and conditions.
No, the Company Man never dies, he idly shifts into perpetuity.
